Job Description
What you will do - Plans, coordinates and participates in bio-metric screening process.
- Demonstrates knowledge of growth and development to provide education appropriate to the age of the individuals served.
- Prepares presentations and teaches wellness programs as required.
- Ensures that education materials are timely, accurate and consistent with current guidelines established by national organizations, such as the American Heart Association, American Cancer Society, and National Institute on Health.
- Maintains documentation and statistics including: screening results with historical comparisons, participation, counseling activities, referrals and ancillary activities. Reports screening comparisons annually as necessary.
- Maintains client confidentiality.
- Coaches employees on healthy lifestyles, providing direction, education, and goal setting to aid in improving the overall health of the individual. Utilizes bio-metric testing results as a basis for coaching individuals. Utilizes department approved education, standards, and health programming to achieve goals.
- Rounds to departments/companies as necessary to deliver elements of programming and to follow up on individual's progress as required. Travels as necessary.
- Advises and instructs employees regarding physical fitness, exercise regimens, and various fitness activities. In some cases will demonstrate proper use of fitness equipment. Will advise on proper technique to achieve best results. Will caution and advise individuals to seek approval of their family physician regarding participation in activities.
- Advises and instructs employees on proper nutrition and healthy diet. Provides education and resources regarding nutrition based on department approved education and research.
Education Qualifications - A health related degree, i.e. LPN, Health and Wellness Promotion or Exercise Science Required
Experience Qualifications - Minimum of two years' relevant experience of healthcare programming Required
Skills and Abilities - Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
- Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies or members of the business community.
- Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference and fundamentals of plane geometry and trigonometry.
- Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
- This job requires computer and systems competency in the following areas: Enters data, retrieves data, assembles and organizes data, uses and analyzes data, integrates diverse sources of data.
- Must be able to use basic software such as Word, Excel, and Power Point.
Licenses and Certifications - LPNs must have a current active license in the state of Indiana Required
- Membership in related organizations such as American College of Sports Medicine, Association for Worksite Health Promotion, National Wellness Association, Wellness Councils of America Preferred
- Valid drivers license Required
