The Senior Consultant collaborates with the team and/or the client’s existing tax department to classify assets properly and analyze assessment notices for accuracy. This role focuses on creating positive team member experiences, delivering excellent client service, and driving revenue and profit for the firm. The ideal candidate possesses analytical and problem-solving skills, along with strong interpersonal skills. They should be effective in researching issues, reconciling databases, and performing detailed calculations. Duties and responsibilities, aligned with Ryan’s Key Results: People: Create a positive team member experience. Client: Respond to client inquiries and requests from tax authorities. Value: Understand the annual property tax cycle for assigned portfolios. Build awareness of jurisdictional rules and filing requirements. Prepare and file tax returns according to jurisdictional requirements. Review and understand client-provided data thoroughly. Inspect properties and prepare reports as needed. Analyze assessment notices to identify potential reductions. Utilize software effectively to manage client data. Have knowledge of assessment review, appeal processes, tax bill administration, and valuation approaches (cost, sales comparison, income), including assessment equalization methods where applicable. Handle appeals and monitor their progress. Participate in client calls and meetings, providing data and insights. Engage with clients to understand their industry, trends, and processes. Participate in recruiting efforts. Communicate effectively with team members. Perform other duties as assigned. Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in relevant fields such as Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Engineering, Economics, Real Estate, Business Management, Public Administration, MIS/Entrepreneurship, International Business, or similar, with MBA, MST, or JD preferred. Valuation designations are a plus. 1-3 years of audit or tax-related experience. High-energy team player with leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills. Ability to prioritize, manage multiple tasks, and handle ambiguity. Ability to work independently and collaboratively at all levels. Computer Skills: Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Internet research is required. Certificates and Licenses: Valid driver’s license required.
