Job Description

QUALIFICATIONS:

This is a non-exempt position serving Indian and non-Indian patients/clientele. Current Idaho Physical Therapist Assistant license in good standing is required. Must have current American Red Cross First Aid Card, Basic Life Support (CPR) and Lifeguard certification or be willing to obtain. Valid drivers license required. Experience working with the public in a health-related capacity, preferably in a rehabilitation setting. Computer literacy with basic word processing skills required. Current billing experience with Medicare, Medicaid, private insurance and AR experience preferred. Knowledge of medical terminology, ICD-9 coding and CPT billing codes recommended.

ADA ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Hearing: within normal limits with or without use of corrective hearing devices;
  • Vision: adequate to read 12-point type with or without use of corrective lenses
  • Must be able to verbally interact with staff, patients and public
  • Manual dexterity of hands/fingers for writing, computer input
  • Able to lift up to 75 lbs.,
  • Standing/walking 75-90% of the day
  • Sitting 5-25% of the day
  • Pushing/pulling up to 75 lbs.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Practices Physical Therapy Assistant duties consistent with the American Physical Therapy Association Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice policy in the Physical Therapy Policy and Procedure Manual.
  • Maintains a patient treatment schedule consistent with the needs of the department.
  • The Physical Therapy Assistant follows the Plan of Care established by the Physical Therapist.
  • Confers with the Physical Therapist associated with the active management of the patient and keeps them informed of any additional patient needs, treatment modifications and or progress.
  • Treats patients of all ages, race, creed, gender, and disability without bias or prejudice.
  • Respects and understands the patients right to treatment and right to involvement in treatment decisions.
  • Practices ethical responsibilities based on the cultural, ethic, and religious beliefs of the patients served and applicable by law.
  • Responsible for the preparation and submission of documentation associated with job responsibilities including:
  • Current daily notes on patients treated.
  • Special reports as requested by Manager.
  • Ensures that all documentation of patient treatment sessions is maintained according to CDA PT record standards and format.
  • Attends departmental/facility meetings as required.
  • Good working relationship with other clinical departments and considers impact of programming changes, when indicated.
  • Incorporate Wellness Center Fitness and Aquatics staff as integral part of treatment outcomes.
  • Assists with plans for future comprehensive exercise-based services that meet community needs, as budget and staffing allow.
  • Works closely with supervisor to ensure program budget compliance.
  • Actively participates in facility risk management program and contributes quality
  • Assists in the cleaning and maintenance of equipment.
  • Assist in maintaining appropriate levels of patient supplies as needed by staff.
  • Assist room set-up and perform laundry duties as needed.
  • Promotes injury prevention measures within work environment
  • Remain current on literature, techniques and evidence-based practices in the Physical Therapy profession.
  • Attends continuing education courses, conventions, professional meetings as resources allow.
  • Prepare and give presentations to patients, staff and community groups, as requested.
  • Represent the department and market services to prospective referral sources and patients in community.
  • Assist the Office Coordinator in managing the administrative and financial operations of the clinic.
  • The Physical Therapy Manager supervises the Physical Therapist Assistant.
  • Other duties as assigned.
