Klein College of Media and Communication Department of Media Studies and Production The Department of Media Studies and Production in the Klein College of Media and Communication at Temple University invites applications for an assistant professor of practice (non-tenure track), with expertise in broadcast and digital news production, to begin July 1, 2025. Candidates must have a bachelor's degree; master's or terminal degree preferred. We are seeking candidates with at least 7-10 years of experience producing television news in a major market and/or at the network level. We seek a colleague with demonstrated ability or potential to mentor Klein College's students, one who can demonstrate the energy, empathy and flexibility to work with undergraduates in both a studio and classroom setting. The primary responsibility of this position is to teach live newscast production, including production of Temple's award-winning weekly newscast, Temple Update, and associated broadcast and digital productions for TUTV, which has been awarded Best College/University Television Station by the Intercollegiate Broadcasting System (IBS) twice in recent years. We seek applicants who can teach across our curriculum, including courses in writing basics, professional development, and media entrepreneurship. Because undergraduate teaching is the primary responsibility of this position, applicants should demonstrate a deep commitment to and interest in pedagogical practice by providing a teaching statement, summary of teaching experience, and indications of mentoring and advising success. Applicants should also summarize professional experience in broadcast and news production. In addition to teaching responsibilities, the successful candidate will be expected to contribute significantly to the department and to Klein College through service, which may include developing curriculum, serving on faculty committees, and advising student organizations. The Department of Media Studies and Production has approximately 500 undergraduate students across two majors and three concentrations. Faculty members may contribute to Klein's interdisciplinary degree programs and certificates. The Lew Klein College of Media and Communication is among the largest comprehensive colleges of communication in the nation. The college enrolls nearly 2,000 students including more than 100 graduate students.
