As Lead Software Engineer for Space Domain Awareness, you will combine expert-level coding skills with deep technical knowledge to build large-scale data processing systems that enable next-generation space situational awareness capabilities. Position Summary: As Lead Software Engineer, you will serve as the technical leader for sophisticated software systems that process and analyze massive amounts of space sensor data. Working at the intersection of astrodynamics, large-scale data processing, and modern software engineering, you will design and implement physics-based software solutions for object tracking, identification, and trajectory planning. Your role involves leading technical teams, establishing software best practices, and building scalable systems that integrate with government projects through APIs and user interfaces while maintaining the highest standards of performance and reliability. Lead development of large-scale Space Domain Awareness software systems that process multi-sensor data streams for object tracking and characterization Design and implement physics-based algorithms for trajectory planning, Monte Carlo simulations, and automated scheduling systems for sensor networks Build sophisticated sensor fusion software that transforms raw photon data and sensor inputs into actionable intelligence for space object identification Develop machine learning models and neural networks for automated classification of space objects (rockets, debris, satellites) with appropriate weights and characterization Create scalable software architectures for integrating with government projects, including API development and user interface design Provide technical leadership and mentorship to software engineering teams while establishing best practices for large data analysis and software development Collaborate with astrodynamics experts to translate complex mathematical models into robust, production-ready software packages Design and implement automated scheduling systems that coordinate sensor networks for optimal space object tracking and monitoring Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical field 7+ years of software engineering experience with proven expertise in large-scale data processing and analysis systems Strong proficiency in C++ and Python for machine learning and high-performance computing applications Experience with neural networks, sensor fusion, and advanced software techniques for data processing Background in applying mathematical models to create physics-based software solutions Proven track record of leading small technical teams and ready to step into expanded leadership responsibilities Familiarity with Cesium, STK, or similar space-related software tools preferred Strong background in simulation, data engineering, and system architecture design Excellent problem-solving abilities for working with complex astrodynamics and space-related challenges Experience with government projects, APIs, and user interface development highly valued Does this sound like you?
