Dispatcher / Class A CDL Fuel Transport Driver - Blackwell, OK

Established in 1949, Shepherd Oil Company operates more than 60 trucks throughout Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma, Arkansas and Texas with supply from terminals throughout the Midwest. Our Drivers are an integral part of Shepherd Oil Company.

We are looking for someone to split time between hauling fuel and dispatching. This is a Full-Time position. This would include working as a dispatcher each weekend and delivering fuel during the week. You would have at least 2 days off during the week (ex. Tue/Wed). This position will be based out of Blackwell for Dispatch and Ponca City for hauling fuel.

As Dispatcher, you will play a key role in the safety and efficient operations of our transportation department. They will provide customer service while taking inbound phone calls in a high performance, customer focused, call center environment. The Dispatcher will coordinate the operations and logistical functions of the transportation division while resolving issues so as to align employees with our company values and goals. They should be expected to be skilled in the daily processes and activities involved for all aspects of petroleum transportation and delivery.

Responsibilities (Dispatcher):
  • Manage the workforce to achieve daily production goals. Determine equipment and manpower requirements for daily operational needs.
  • Manage prevention of service failures through effective dispatching of drivers.
  • Supervise scheduling of shipments.
  • Contact customers daily to determine their fuel needs, the current market and trends, and our availability to fulfill their fuel needs.
  • Create and maintain a high-performance culture. Maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a professional manner.
  • Build, grow and maintain a relationship with customer bases through excellent communication skills and customer service.

Requirements
  • Class A CDL - Hazmat and Tanker Endorsements required
  • Must be able to drive 13/18 speed trucks
  • Must be at least 23 years of age
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience in the delivery/trucking industry required.
  • Experience in dispatching/customer service is beneficial.
  • Must possess at least intermediate computer skills and knowledge.
  • Ability to evaluate alternatives in order to make best overall value decisions based on considering key factors, cost, customer expectations, driver needs and other factors.
  • Solid judgment, problem-solving and decision-making skills, and a proven record of taking the initiative and responsibility in using those skills effectively, both individually and as a team member.
  • Ability to function well in a high-stress environment.
  • Pass a background check and drug test.

Physical Requirements:

Arm and hand steadiness and finger dexterity enough to use a keyboard and telephone; occasional lifting up to 75 pounds; may be subject to walking, standing, sitting, and reaching; and vision, speech, and hearing sufficient to perform the essential tasks.
