Job Purpose The Senior Manager, Global Security is responsible for designing, implementing, and leading Valvoline Global Operations' security strategies. This role protects people, facilities, assets, and brand reputation across international operations. Responsibilities include executive protection, facility security, global travel risk management, regulatory compliance, crisis response, and security technology integration. The incumbent works with cross-functional teams and external partners to foster a secure and resilient global enterprise. The role reports to the Chief Legal Officer and manages a small, high-performing security team. How You Make an Impact (Job Accountabilities) Physical Security & Facility Protection Oversee the design, execution, and monitoring of physical security protocols across all VGO facilities globally. Lead physical security assessments and audits, and develop action plans to close any identified gaps. Implement and manage access control systems, perimeter defenses, alarm monitoring systems, and onsite guard operations. Guide the strategic procurement and maintenance of physical security infrastructure in collaboration with facilities and operations teams. Executive Protection & Event Security Develop and execute comprehensive protection plans for senior executives, ensuring safety during domestic and international travel. Establish detailed security protocols for high-profile events, shareholder meetings, and public engagements. Partner with event planners and outside agencies to assess threats and coordinate protective services. Conduct threat vulnerability assessments specific to executive visibility and event exposure. Global Travel Risk Management Lead a global travel monitoring and risk mitigation program, issuing timely advisories and security alerts. Create region-specific traveler safety briefings and resources for employees. Design emergency response procedures for crisis evacuation and shelter-in-place protocols. Coordinate with travel vendors, Legal, and HR to ensure alignment on global mobility security practices. Crisis Management & Incident Response Serve as the 24/7 Security Duty Officer for any global security incident, including after-hours and weekends. Lead the Security function’s role within VGO’s Crisis Management Team, contributing to enterprise emergency preparedness and response planning. Oversee the readiness of emergency communication tools and conduct scenario-based drills to ensure cross-functional response alignment. Workplace Violence Prevention & Investigations Develop and maintain workplace violence prevention and behavioral threat assessment programs. Collaborate with HR and Legal on high-sensitivity employee-related security matters and investigations. Conduct due diligence, fact-finding, and discreet interviews to resolve issues involving potential threats or security breaches. Global Security Strategy & Intelligence Build and refine VGO’s global security roadmap, aligning protective strategies with business continuity and reputational risk mitigation. Lead proactive intelligence gathering and threat forecasting using government, private, and open-source channels. Present executive briefings and develop intelligence reports for VGO’s senior leadership and Board. Policy Development & Compliance Draft, implement, and oversee enforcement of global security policies and corporate security procedures. Ensure VGO’s adherence to regulatory requirements including DHS, TSA, export controls, and privacy / data security frameworks. Manage compliance audits and interface with regulatory bodies, law enforcement, and external counsel as needed. Cross-Functional Partnership Serve as a key strategic partner to Legal, HR, IT, EHS, and Operations to embed security into core business processes. Collaborate with IT to integrate physical and cybersecurity controls and to address emerging cyber-physical threat vectors. Align with EHS on emergency protocols and safety systems integration. Security Technology & Innovation Assess and recommend advanced security technologies including AI-based analytics, biometric access, and surveillance enhancements. Lead implementation of security platforms that integrate with enterprise systems to streamline monitoring and response. Maintain a forward-looking view on global technology trends impacting physical and digital security convergence. Training & Awareness Design and deliver global security awareness programs tailored to site-specific risks and employee roles. Conduct physical and tabletop drills to increase incident preparedness across regions. Monitor training effectiveness and continuously enhance curriculum based on evolving threats. External Liaison & Representation Build and maintain strong partnerships with global law enforcement, national security entities, and industry security alliances. Represent VGO in industry working groups and government security forums to shape policy and share best practices. What You Bring to the Role (Job Qualifications / Education / Skills / Requirements / Capabilities) Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Security Management, International Relations, or related field; advanced degree preferred. 8–12 years of progressive experience in corporate security, including global or multinational setting. Deep expertise in executive protection, security strategy, and crisis management. Proven experience with physical security systems, travel risk programs, and incident response. Strong knowledge of regulatory compliance, export controls, privacy, and international security standards. Familiarity with emerging security technologies (AI, biometrics, analytics) and their business integration. Demonstrated ability to lead small teams and influence cross-functional stakeholders. Global mindset with experience adapting to diverse cultural contexts. Excellent written / oral communication and briefing capabilities, especially to senior leadership. High integrity, discretion, and professionalism under pressure. Availability for some international travel, as needed. Working Conditions / Physical Requirements / Travel Requirements Primarily office-based corporate environment with occasional on-site visits to manufacturing, R&D, and distribution facilities worldwide. Travel requirement: estimated 20–30%, including international high-risk area visits. May include irregular hours in response to events or crises, including evenings or weekends. Physical requirements: ability to conduct security assessments, occasionally move through facility infrastructure (stairs, warehouses), and endure travel-related demands.
