Job Description

Celebrating a milestone year of growth and impact in 2024, we expanded our client portfolio, built an impressive backlog, and successfully completed the largest project in our history. Our team thrives on delivering excellence, overcoming challenges, and building lasting client relationships. Looking ahead, we’re committed to expanding our work in education and medical facilities while embracing opportunities to go beyond—taking on transformative projects that drive progress within Texas communities. At Jackson Construction, every team member takes part in bringing our projects to life, and in doing so, each project becomes a platform to promote learning and mentorship, strengthen existing relationships, build new connections, and prepare our team members to take on new challenges.

Position Summary

As our Project Manager, you will lead the successful execution of institutional construction projects from planning to closeout, ensuring safety, quality, and financial performance. We'll count on you to collaborate with Preconstruction and project teams, maintain schedules, manage budgets, and build effective relationships with Owners, Architects, and Subcontractors. In this key role, you’ll need exceptional leadership and organizational abilities, along with the capacity to mentor team members, address challenges proactively, and maintain comprehensive project documentation. Your expertise in financial oversight, schedule coordination, resource management, and quality control will be instrumental in delivering outstanding results and ensuring client satisfaction.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Preconstruction and Planning

  • Assist with bid invitations, review vendor agreements, and provide input on baseline schedules and preliminary logistics.
  • Facilitate preconstruction meetings, finalize subcontractor buyouts, and prepare project-specific instructions for a smooth transition from planning to construction.

Financial Management

  • Oversee project budgets, prepare and track owner billings, and manage subcontractor payments and change orders.
  • Monitor financial accuracy and alignment with project timelines and budget expectations.

Schedule and Resource Coordination

  • Collaborate with the Project Superintendent to maintain schedules, coordinate subcontractors, and allocate resources to meet project milestones.
  • Ensure timely delivery of project phases.

Quality Control and Compliance

  • Enforce quality standards and verify work aligns with drawings and specifications.
  • Support field teams in maintaining safety protocols and resolving compliance issues promptly.

Team Leadership

  • Lead project meetings, delegate responsibilities, and mentor Assistant Project Managers and Project Engineers.
  • Promote collaboration among Owners, Architects, Subcontractors, and internal teams to achieve shared goals.

Documentation and Reporting

  • Maintain accurate project records in Procore, including RFIs, submittals, and meeting documentation.
  • Provide timely updates on progress, budgets, and performance metrics.

Risk and Issue Resolution

  • Identify potential risks early and implement mitigation strategies in coordination with the Director of Operations.
  • Resolve critical project issues through proactive communication with Owners and Architects.

Closeout and Warranty

  • Oversee punch list completion, closeout activities, and warranty processes.
  • Ensure client satisfaction and maintain relationships for future work.

Continuous Improvement

  • Conduct performance reviews and provide actionable feedback to support team growth.
  • Recommend process improvements and support training initiatives to enhance project delivery.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
  • Experience managing complex commercial or institutional projects (K-12, higher education, healthcare, public facilities, etc.).
  • Proven track record of delivering projects on time, within budget, and in compliance with quality and safety standards.
  • Strong financial management skills, including subcontractor pay applications and change order processes.
  • Proficiency with construction project management software (Procore preferred) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills with the ability to build strong relationships and resolve issues effectively.

Essential Functions

You must be able to twist, stoop, bend, squat, kneel, and climb stairs and ladders occasionally, with the ability to walk on uneven ground while navigating active construction sites. Depth perception is required to avoid excavations and other hazards, and the ability to hear warning sounds such as horns and sirens from moving equipment is essential for safety. The role involves standing for extended periods, up to seven hours of an eight-hour shift, and the occasional lifting of items weighing up to 25 pounds.
