The Village of Lincolnwood, Illinois (13,463 – 2020 census) is a diverse home-rule municipality directly north of the City of Chicago consisting of 2.7 square miles, with a unique blend of residential, commercial, and manufacturing areas. The Village is seeking an individual to serve as a Public Works Laborer. Work involves performance of a variety of tasks which may include maintenance and repair of Village water and sewer lines. Additionally, the position assists with the repair and maintenance of streets, sidewalks, and curbs. Specific work assignments are provided on a daily basis and may be rotated. Work includes the operation of motorized equipment and requires heavy physical labor. The position is subject to being available for on-call duty for emergencies, as determined by the Director of Public Works, which requires availability at any hour or day.
The candidate’s education shall include a high school diploma and a Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), or the ability to obtain a CDL B within six months of the candidate’s hire date. Current possession of an Illinois Class B CDL license is strongly preferred. Experience in Public Works operations required. The successful candidate will possess the following characteristics and abilities: attention to detail and accuracy, interpersonal skills, personal integrity, respect, and a passion for public service.
The hourly range for this position is $24.01 to $33.99. This position is classified as a full-time, non-exempt, union position.
